Meet the Tech Team

Liz Beck

Originally from Montreal, Canada, Liz Beck is an art therapist turned web designer and ed tech enthusiast. A deep believer in the power of the creative process to facilitate learning, she oversees the Riveter Lab (maker space) as well as the K-8 making and digital citizenship curriculum. She teaches the Grade 7-8 Design Elective and works with the Hamlin community to ensure the successful use of online classrooms. Liz is also a member of the 2016/2017 ATLIS ECATD program.

Debra Cardone

Debra Cardone has been the Head Librarian for fifteen years. Ms. Cardone collaborates with classroom teachers to integrate digital library resources into research assignments so that all students will become effective users of information in all formats. Helping students learn to find, evaluate, and use information is a key tenet of the library’s information literacy program. Students are also taught to access new databases and e-books using their iPad.

Rachel Davis

Rachel Davis has been a science teacher for fifteen years and she has recently been working as our K-8 Technology Integration and iPad Program Coordinator. She has created a paperless classroom and she has integrated a great deal of technology in her classroom to promote student engagement. Rachel led a week-long iPad course, training teachers in K - 12 on implementing iPads in their classrooms. She has also led workshops on iTunes U, iBooks Author, and iPad Workflow.

Lawrence Fung

After serving Hamlin as the Systems Administrator for 5 years, Lawrence Fung assumed the role of IT Manager in 2013. He has been taking care of all IT related stuff for the school including servers, storage system, wifi system, network infrastructure, laptop/desktop computers, iPads and phone system, etc. and helping staff and faculty members and students troubleshoot all tech related issues.

Mark Picketts

Mark Picketts is the Director of Program Innovation & Professional Development, and has been at The Hamlin School since 2014. Mark is a National Faculty member for the Buck Institute of Education and believes that there is a natural and powerful blend between Project Based Learning, Making & Technology. Mark has taught in Canada and England, as well as at US Embassy schools in Spain, Bahrain, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Mexico. Mark received his B.A. and B.Ed at Queen’s University in Kingston as well as his Master's from the University of Alabama. Mark enjoys kitesurfing, the outdoors and spending time with his wife and two children in Mill Valley.

Caroline Windell

Formerly a fourth grade math and science teacher, Caroline Windell is currently a Lower School Technology Integration Specialist where she has served as a technology resource for both students and teachers for the past thirteen years. She currently teaches a STEM class to fourth grade girls incorporating both programming and robotics. Along with the Lower School science teacher, she also co-teaches a robotics unit to second grade girls.
